At the winter months I work on our about 400 years old house

I had no idea there were tempered windows and doors 400 years ago!!!

Neat looking place. I think the oldest house I ever lived in was build in 1970 and I bought it in 1996. The house I live in now (a log cabin) was build in 2006!!

I can say however, the land the house is built on is much much older than that.

Here in the northwest some of our land is brand new....

We're just temporary stewards of the land.

Come on out in my garden and I'll show you my collection of 600 million year old rocks. LOTS of them. And what ain't rock is glacial silt/clay. Ugh.

Used to live in a house that was built in 1820 and, at the time, was on the Chenango Canal. Had some really funky wiring added over the years.

18OO'S Is an old place...

In the early 60's I lived in England. We rented a farmers house that was reportedly over 200 years old. Fortunately the steam heat had been updated after the "Great War" and we managed to survive 3 brutal English winters quite well..

The farmer had wisely moved to a plot about 10 yards away and built a modern (by 1950's standards) home for his family. Wondered often as we walked the cows to the milking barn, 'Who would want to live in that old place?'

Well, you know what they say about those of us in the South. We are behind the times so all of our dirt will be old.
