With a well reefed main.

Post by Michel »

The meteo said that it was gusting at 27 kts today! I made sure to have the small jib and a double reefed main. :)
End of season fun! ;)

As usual your videos are an inspiration. I went out today as well. Sailed about 5 miles out and 5 miles back. Took just under 5 hours!! Not exactly gale force winds! The sail outbound went well and I never fell under about 3 kts. The trip back was the exact opposite. Although I never actually stopped moving I did have to throw my dutchman's log over the side a time or two to see if I was actually moving!!

By the way Michel, did you know you were growing a birds's nest? As for me, I have the entire landing field.

By the way, two weeks ago I inadvertently shaved my beard off (its a long story!). Today was the first time since I shaved it that I went sailing. My face is quite burned. I didn't realize how much the beard actually protected me from the sun. So, as you grow that bird's nest you want to make sure you stay covered.

Ha ha! I know about that bird nest! It began with a hummingbird nest about 30 years ago and slowly but surely got to that seagull sized proportion at 62! :| ;) I don't know if it will keep on growing. :D

I usually wear my hat but as the sun was rather absent, I thought the wind would do no harm. 8-)

Thanks for your appreciation. :)

As you know I am still waiting/hoping for some images of your's. I would love to see you and your boat in action. No need to be fancy. ;)

My "bird's nest" started at 30 as well. However by the time I was 35 I was Friar Tuck. I have now been hairless as long as I had the beautiful Italian curls!!

Yesterday, when I went out I took my MP3 player. I have currently over 600 tunes stored on it and they are a rather eclectic group. However, no opera, rap or country music!! Anyway, when I just got underway I turned the player on and the very first piece of music, strictly by coincidence was Styx "Come Sail Away" The last song as I returned to the dock was a Mozart Nocturne. I could not have programmed that if I had wanted to!

I don't listen to music when I sail, but I often has some tune in my head! ;) Sometimes, when there are some gentle waves, I hear "I'm your captain" or " I'm getting closer to my home" Anyway, that part of the song! Grand Funk Railroad, I believe? :)

I wish you a good day dear Friar! We are from the same sailing church BTW. ;)
