I am encourageble

Post by Art Haberland »

Sadly, I am the kind of person who enjoys the project more than the outcome. in regards to that, I am already planning my next boat even as I am only about halfway through the refit of my seasprite.

Tonight I bought the plans to Welsford's Navigator. I might get to work some on it this winter when it gets too cold to go outside

I wonder why so many of us have ADD. I am building a model railroad (only working on it for 40 years now so I have a way to go). I also have an "Observatory" of sorts set up at my house and some time when I am not too busy building railroads, sailing or growing tomatoes (Ha my tomato crop this year only cost me $15.00 per tomato, such a deal) I sit around gazing at the stars.

Good luck with your new project. Send pictures or we will park in your driveway and give advise!

to be honest.. the project is only part of the reason I bought the plans. The Boat is already named "mookie"

Sadly, last Wed my 15 year old nephew committed suicide by shooting himself with his father's sidearm. Nobody saw it coming, and nothing could be done to prevent it (and my sister, his mother, works with suicidal kids too). His Nickname was Mookie and this boat will be a moving reminder to my favourite Nephew.

My sincerely condolences to you and his family. I will remember him in my prayers

Art,

I feel for you and your family! My brother-in-law took his life almost two years ago while we were on a family vacation in Mexico. Getting through it is about all that can be done, but when you are in it, it takes all you've got to keep your hand on the tiller.

I look forward to the building of Mookie. What a heartfelt and inspirational thing to do!

A boat build is a wonderful way to honor a loved one. I was wondering how a boat had a name like that before the plans were even purchased. I'm sorry for your loss. May I ask how your nephew got the nickname "Mookie"?

I am unsure and when I talked to my Mother last, she did not know either.

It was a sad funeral, why they wanted to do an open casket viewing I will never know. While the Mortuary did an OK job rebuilding his head and face.. it really didn't look like him.

Just makes me want to get started on building it all the more now
