I think I prefer your Sunbird as it was before!

I think I would totally agree with you on that.Michel wrote:I think I prefer your Sunbird as it was before!
I did make my own whisker pole out of a painting extension handle and some hooks and bolts. I had gone down to West Marine and found whisker poles were going for around $200.00. I make this one for around $30.00 because I used the most expensive handle. I could have cut that in half with a cheaper handle!
I find anything with the description "marine equipment" attached automatically inflates the price by at least a factor of 3!!

I agree at 110%! Think about lines and halyards, sheets etc... And then think about polyester ropes at any hardware or whatever store!... Two worlds!

Lusty,
Whisker poles are a no brainier... 1 Stolen Broom handle (do not tell my wife) .... 1 coat hanger (makes both a hook on one end of the broom handle to attach to sail and a ' Y ' to rest on the mast)... and duct tape.
20 minutes to acquire the parts (my bride kept talking to me while I rummaged in the pantry/broom closet), a couple minutes to snip the hanger into shapes and 3 seconds of duct tape and your sailing wing - wing down wind.....
