Hunter 19

Does anyone know anything about the Hunter 19? There is one at the marina that I keep the Lusty Slogger. It hasn't moved for two or three years and I think I might be able to pick it up cheap. It is beginning to look ragged but still solid. The sails are exposed so I would want to take a really close look at those since that could be a $1500.00 expense to replace them. The Lusty Slogger is a good boat, easy to sail but I am thinking of something with a cabin and "living accommodations"

Anyone with any experience?

I once knew a guy who had one. He was very pleased with it. These boats are in the same class as my Sandpiper 565. You have to reef early but they sail well. They are also at the upper limit for small trouble free and living free boats. You get bigger and the boat begins to own you instead of the other way around!

Thanks for the info. Based on what I have seen on the internet they appear to be a good boat. Years ago Hunter Marine was one of my clients. Couldn't talk them out of one of their boats however!!! Said the only way I could get one was through one of their dealers.

If this boat is in the stars I have decided to rename it Orion!

I did get out sailing yesterday. Temps were in the mid 60's, wind out of the northeast 5 to 6 kts. Overcast. I reached for my camera and remembered I had left it on my bureau in the bedroom . So, I didn't get any photos. There was a race with 8 of us involved. It was a "pursuit" race with all of us starting at different times depending on our ratings. Then, the first boat over the line is the winner and you know it as soon as he crosses rather than 2 or 3 days and 300 protest later. I didn't sail my boat but was on a Catalina 25 and we came in second. So, I guess I had better start training for the America's Cup!!
