A new clip!

Post by Michel »

It was hot, humid, gusty and smoggy (?) (Can I say smoggy?) ;) But I had to go sailing today!... ;)

I am truly envious Michel!! It has been raining here for the past two plus weeks. I needed to change out my boat cover and rain or no rain I went to the boat today to put a new canvas cover on it. It was dry for about 30 minutes, just enough time for me to get the cover on the boat but not fastened down. Suddenly the rain came in sheets and the wind piped up to 30 kts. I quickly slid under the tarp and started to fasten it to the boat. I was "mostly" dry and I will be ready for the next storm. Its supposed to clear up by mid weeks but then I will be working :x

This is the reason I keep a log, to go back to the good days and remind myself that they will return again.

I sure wish that you will be able to go sailing soon! There is a lot of bad weather in my region too this summer. Normaly I will not go out on the weekends because of the heavy powerboat traffic but I don't want to miss any window of opportunity in case the rain comes back for another week or so!

I like when you use the gopro camera behind you to set up the shot of the boat going past, then they are waving at you nice

Yeah it is funny! It shows the same time/event in two different perspectives.

It is the first time I ever used two cameras. I think I will do that more in the future. :)

One of the smart things you did was have one static camera, then you can use the other one to add to it.not sure if this is true for everyone, but when you panned around to the stern so I could see the camera in the back, it gave me a perspective of everything going on.

Your boat is a bit bigger than my P-12, but when taking pictures I realized it is hard capture everything. I see a lot GoPro videos have a pole sticking off the boat to capture the whole perspective... and at times people will put it at the top of the mast.

I think (IMHO) that the GoPro is best used as a static camera. I use it with the smallest view angle setting that is close to the human vision angle. I don't like that fisheye effect we have with the wider view setting, the concave horizon bent mast ETC...

The other camera with zoom and everything can be used to frame things better and show the "smaller picture" when needed. ;)

I am glad that you like that kind of filming. :)

I agree. If you watch the GoPro videos, the ones where people put them on their helmet/head... is kind of jumpy...

Also, you need to have a really bright day for the GoPro

on this one they had an extension on the bow

My favorite vid with a goPro is this one

I think they had the camera on a tripod for most of the shots
