Thank you. It may be small but as I think Dylan Winter's once said, the view from the deck of my boat is no different than the view from a 50 footer, just closer to the water!

There are times when I would like a larger boat, like a Victoria 18 or a Cape Dory Typhoon but this boat will do everything those boats will do and I can store it in my basement in the winter!

I currently sail in Cherokee Lake in East Tennessee. It is a lake created by the Tennessee Valley Authority by damming up the Holston River in Jefferson City, TN. Its about 30 miles or so from one end of the lake to the other and about 1.5 miles at its widest and stretches from Jefferson City to Bean Station. According to the website it has about 430 miles of shoreline. Every year the lake is drained from November to April. Although there is always enough water at the marina I keep my boat, I don't have an ice breaker bow so I put the boat in "dry dock" during the winter months!!

I have sailed in the Chesapeake Bay, The St Johns River from Jacksonville FL to Palatka Fl and in the ocean from Jacksonville to Fernandina Beach Fl, and in Yokosuka Japan harbor. I sailed the bay when I was young and stupid in an 11 foot Styrofoam Sunflower. I did sail the ocean in a 40 footer, although not my boat. I have also "steamed" from Long Beach California to Christchurch New Zealand and back as crew on the USS Mansfield. My very first sail was in 1963 in a 14 foot boat in Palatka Fl in the St Johns River. Although the "skipper" was a clown and delighted in having me hike out and then coming into the wind so I would dunk my head I was hooked!!!

I belong to the Cherokee Lake Sailing Club who's newsletter is known as the "Light and Variable" which aptly describes the wind conditions generally found at the lake!

I remember reading a science fiction story years ago about a planet that was perpetually frozen. The major form of transportation was sailing ice boats. The one the hero of the story sailed was called the "Sanderscree". If I ever get another boat that is what I am going to name it. (That should raise more questions than "Lusty Slogger" don't you think?)
