Got a call from my marina yesterday that my mast was leaning toward the boat next to me!! When I got there I discovered the clevis pen for the starboard shroud had worked its way out. It was an easy fix since the pin and the wire clip was still on the boat! I hooked it back up and ran another wire through the pin and around the shackle itself. I then taped the entire connection. I did that to both shrouds and to the forestay. Apparently, with the higher than usual winds the boat had a lot of movement at the dock and that worked the pin loose.

It would behoove all of us who think the clevis pin and wire clip are enough to take a little extra time to safety wire the pins in place.

Hey Norman! This is one reason why I enjoy keeping the boat at home! No worries of any kinds and it's free!
I will do it as long as it is possible for me to mast and launch/retrieve all by myself.

Sailing a dinghy is a simple pleasure and it is very safe if we are wise enough to reef as needed. We can go a very long way if we want or have too. We can even use a jib along the mast in place of the main. No boom to worry about as a bonus! Great in a real blow! ;)

I am hoping to get out at least one more time this year. This week is a loss though, nice breezes, but high gusts.

I might very well get out next week, tuesday or wednesday. It will be mild with some nice breeze. Well I hope so! ;)
