Where is everyone?

Post by lustyslogger »

Social distancing doesn't apply to posting in this forum. Has everyone just disappeared? Surely we can discuss the plans we are making for monster cruise we are taking when the world is restored.

I will have to admit I haven't done much viz a viz sailing for at least a month. Last time I visited my boat one shroud had come disconnected from the deck. Fortunately the mast had not fallen. I reattached the shroud but its still very loose. I can't get out to the boat to fix the issue until after the quarantine is lifted. I saw the email Josh sent us about building a pram in my living room. My problem with that is that when I was three years old my saintly mother said to me "Norman, get away from that wheelbarrow, you don't know anything about machinery" and I have obeyed her ever since!

So, what are you doing to keep from going crazy now?

With news of marinas lockdown almost everywhere, it's hard to think about sailing. Yes, there is always work to be done on our sailboats, but its with the thought that eventually, we'll be going sailing. Now most can't even do that. I'm fortunate that my boat is on a trailer at home and that I can work on it, but it's hard to get exited if all that work is for naught. I'll probably go nuts if I can't go sailing this summer. Like many, I waited all winter with the express expectation that all this waiting was worth it to go sailing.

Well! The snow has melted in my region. It is getting warmer but the boat will stay under it's tarp for the time being. I fear it will be a long wait before I will be able to go sailing. Crazy times we are going trough! I don't even want to look at sailing videos!

well, one boat is in pieces as I took the GP apart last fall in anticipation of painting the interior and installing flotation foam. I need to get to that. The M17 is sitting at my Fathers without registration of boat or trailer, until the DMV opens in another 8 days, I cannot even legally move it.

I have gotten some work on the wherry done, but I am now waiting on more cedar strips so I can finish up the deck.

I welcomed a 14 day isolation thinking I'd be able to work on my little boat! Instead, I've been spending my free time making face masks. I guess I'll run out of material at some point and can turn to my boat. I have to go back in to work Tuesday. I'm prepping my house to COMPLETELY PHYSICALLY SEPARATE from my partner (she's in a few high risk categories) within our house. I find myself saying things like "I'll be fine. Howard Rice spent a month on a 12ft boat. I can spend a month in my basement w/ a mini fridge." I'll be fine, right?

Twenty years ago my wife and I lived in a 25 ft travel trailer for six months while our house was being built. By the end of that time we were both searching for an attorney, we just didn't know if we needed a divorce or a criminal attorney!

Good luck living in your basement

Hi! I have run out of self inflicted distractions and now giving focus to my poor little SCAMP that has been waiting patiently to be completed. And, I'm enjoying every minute of it. I'm really glad that Duckworks is open and very responsive to my time of need too!

Still in the "getting ready" mode. Just had a new sail cover made and we're set to go. I understand many county ramps, here and elsewhere, are CAUTION taped to prevent use. Don't know why that would be other than to limit travel.

I was going to bring Spark home to do some work. I am glad I saw the weather report first. The storm that ripped through here yesterday would have sent my 300 pound boat flying. We had gale force winds for hours yesterday
