Cape Dory Typhoon

Post by AIRHOG2007 »

I need to replace the headstay on a CD Typhoon. Does anyone know where to find one, or the length I need to make it?
Thanks for your help,
Bill

If you don't have the old one...There is that Pythagore thing I (think I) remember a little : The height of the mast forestay bracket square + the distance from the mast to the foot of the forestay square and you find the square root of the result number.... It should give you the lengh of your forestay or.... Make one with some line, raise the mast and measure it! (This is what I would do!) ;) Any marine store could make you one. :)

the other option is to call some rigging shops and ask if they have made forestays for the Typhoon and do they have the measurements.

here's the manual for cape dory's including typhoon, it has the specs for standing rigging

also if you need a forestay email rigging only in mass they have the lengths from me.

FWIW Mine measures out 20"7" That is not stretched, so the 20'8" the manual gives is probably good. That is pin to pin.
