Spring is springing!!

Post by lustyslogger »

I went out to my boat today to insure it was reasonably dry. It was, but even more heartening was the fact many of the boats in the marina had been taken over by squatters. Yes, our little feathered friends, the Swifts, are making their return. They will build nest in the sail covers or tarp covers. Since there are always about half the boats that never move they are never at a lost for living space. They are beautiful little creatures. White chest and iridescent black and purple backs and wings. By mid spring they have become so accustomed to you being there you can sit on your boat and they will land right on the rigging.

I love the outdoors!!!!!!

Nice!

There are signs of an ealy spring up here also. The snow is melting away fast. We are going to have almost 10 deg C. all week long!

There is hope! :)

You know I misdescribed these little creatures. I should have said

"They have white hulls and iridescent purple and black topsides" It would have been more nautical!!

Well I only have fifty feet of ice in front of where I launch my boat. So It won't be long. It really hasn't been warm enough to work on the boat but another ten or fifteen days.

I want to make a cover for the boat. I have some canvas but it is not water proof. Any way to water proof it ? It is a white canvas like the kind used for painting pictures maybe slightly heavier.
