Brrrrr!...
Wind from the north, cold!... Is that already the end of another sailing season?
I hope for one or two nice sorties before pulling Mari-Bell out of the water.

Finally, I had to pull her out this morning! The dock broke loose with all these waves and the northern wind! The meteo pronostics are not that good also, so...

Time to start dreaming about next spring.

You mean manageable winds and heat? All places have their ups and downs.swoody126 wrote:and DOWN HERE, in Texas, the weather is just now becoming friendly enough for some RECREATIONAL YACHTING...

The bug/temp ratio is just right here in NW Florida, October and May are our best months. Since you have a trailer, head on down!

Where are you in Northwest Florida. My wife wants to move back down in about 3 years. I love it up here in East Tennessee but I can't cook so I will have to follow here I guess. Are you in the Panhandle? What are conditions like for marina's etc.drascombe1980 wrote:The bug/temp ratio is just right here in NW Florida, October and May are our best months. We are on the Pensacola Bay complex. Everything from river gunkholing to day sailing on the Bays or head into the ICW or Gulf if you like. Mobile, Pensacola and Ft Walton Beach have the preponderance of marinas and yacht clubs. The YC are also sprinkled across from Louisiana, MS and AL over to Port St Joe. There is a group called the Gulf Coast Yachting Association out here and people who belong to a YC have reciprocal agreements with the other GCYC. For Small Crafters there are several yearly events, some weekenders, and some 4-5 day camping/sailing long hauls like the Florida 120 and the new MS110.

I haven't had to pull the boat yet but I have not been out since Labor Day. It has rained almost every week end since then. I am turning into a trout!!
