Bad "Luck" ?

Post by Friends with SCAMPS »

I just reread "How Did I Get Here?" By Howard Rice in SCA#93. My mind jumped to the old adage that it's "bad luck" to embark on a cruise on Friday. I think it's more about the mind set of "gotta get out there Now Now Now" I bet there are many more mishaps for people rushing to catch a few hours of daylight Friday afternoon after a long work week rather than leaving Saturday at dawn having rechecked & well stowed everything. I wonder what other bad "luck" sayings are rooted in rushed planning?

How about "Measure once, cut twice"? I think a lot of boat builders try to rush builds, cut corners, don't do things properly, get it built and on water and end up "Sinking the ship" with improper planning and preparation.

In fact, isn't that a good thought for all of life?

I know what you mean about measuring Jackie. I was building a boat once and no matter how many times I cut a board it was still too short.
