Hello,
I'm in central PA and have spent my winter considering a new (to me) boat. I currently sail sunfish and a Flying Scot. I love the Scot but am looking at something a little more manageable to single hand when the wind builds and with some cruising capabilities. I had a fin keel Catalina Capri 18 ( an unusual boat around here) and a Precision 18 (more common) on my short list when I came across a Sun Cat 17. I'm taken in by the appearance-it's a beauty!- but am concerned about pointing. The original owner upgraded to a high performance rudder, though I'm not sure how much that will affect performance. I've read many reviews including SCA's and often hear the "boat points better than expected" but find that a bit lacking. I'd love to sail her before buying, but may not be afforded that luxury, given this winter may never end...lol. If not the Sun Cat I'm leaning towards the CC-18. Any wisdom to share? It's appreciated!
