Will let you know what I think
The last book was (and how could I forget this name) "Small Boats, Big Adventures" and is actually just a collection of past interviews with people who have sailed very small boats on very big adventures (like Hugo Vihlen who sailed a 5 foot 4 inch boat from Newfoundland to England). So far what I have read is quite interesting although its obvious why some of these guys took off on months long solitary sails. I have been on the ocean from Long Beach California to Christchurch New Zealand and back and can tell you that its scary at times even on a 365 foot Naval destroyer, I can't imagine a 17 foot boat in 40 kt winds!
BTW, as an aside. I ordered those three books on Monday. I received them yesterday!!! Faster than Amazon. Thanks Josh
I was a navy brat growing up.. (but health kept me out of the services, or I would have gone CG) and he can tell some stories of manning the helm on an LST going around the horn... the carrier guys kept saying that the Smaller ships should have gotten submarine pay in that storm
After finishing "Bucking the tide", I am reading "Little Breeze to the West" now and that is getting harder and harder now for me! I am dreaming about cruising and sleeping in my little cabin. But my boat is deep frozen under her tarp and a foot of hardened snow at the moment!
Looking at images from of a Montreal / Quebec city cruise of a few years ago.
I have to admit it.. I am an idiot. I found my copy of little breeze.. the other week I had to go to the doctors and being a new doctor, I had a bunch of paperwork to fill out. I almost brought the book with me, but at the last moment decided not to.
It was hiding under the few sheets of paperwork I didn't need to bring with me
OK, all of you who have read Little Breeze to the West, what do you think of it. I have already gone through two and a half of the three books that I bought 3 weeks ago and am now ready for another couple. I was thinking of ordering Little Breeze.
