Looks like he was on the wrong tack. In high winds and reefed. What caused the damage to the mast? Collision? Gust with too much sail?
What ever it appears it is a sturdy little boat.

the MAC26 went by and fell off the wind aft of Sal&Gail ... forgetting he has a boom sticking out and not giving enough room. the MAC26's boom end caught on Sal&Gail's topping lift and pulled the boat over. if you look closely you can see the black line coming off the M15's masthead, the topping lift, pulling the boat over and then coming loose ("twang").JSsailem wrote:Looks like he was on the wrong tack. Hi all.
Solved a few of the problems and have a picture of the first ground trial. Went off without incident.
Found some low friction rings for use to manage the sheets at the transom. Need to adjust lengths of sheets so I reduce the volume of rope in the cockpit.
Bowsprit is lashed to bow in a jerry-rigged fashion till I find the right sized ID pipe to make the permanent rigging. Saw a setup on a Capri 20 that I think will work to give me the adjustable and removable features I want.
Sea trials to follow next.
Putting together a step by step outline of the project if interested.

Out on the water.
Detroit Lake. moderate to light wind.
First sail. Felt great. Still a little work to do, but it sails and it pulls the boat through the water nicely.
