Reading the latest SCA this weekend got me pumped up. Time to attack that to do list. My challenge is to keep the boat ready to sail on weekends. If it is sunny and over 50 on the weekend then I want to drop her in the water!
I won't see 50 degrees until April!. I don't even plant my garden until after April 15 and sometimes the beginning of May. I can't wash the Lusty Slogger for another month because I have the outside water shut off to avoid frozen pipes in my basement/garage. And poor Michel is even colder than I am!!! There are days when moving back to Florida has immense appeal.
By the way, did you read the letters to the editor in the March/April SCA? The comment about putting a heater in the kayak rated a serious Boo - Hiss!!!
Here in western Oregon, we get "pineapple expresses" where warm moist air charges up from Hawaii. It gets warm (its 46 right now) but we don't see the sun and it rains steadily. After the weekends "snopocalypse" I'm happy to see the snow melting, especially off of the boat shelter.
Here's my pic from New Year's Day to warm you up. It was mid-forties and only Zephyr's for wind.

I remember when I lived in Florida going out in 45 to 50 degree sails between Christmas and New Year's. This was in Jacksonville and I sailed on the St John's River out of Bulls Bay in Mandarin. But then again I remember July sails at 98/98 with 1 kt winds (98/98 = 98 degrees, 98% humidity)
Not asleep -- just working on report cards! I've now got Rousmanier's book out and re-reading it keep me in the mood for water and sails. As well, I'm getting ready for a local sail shop's gear swap in May.
Uhm, what? Sorry, i was dreaming. No sleepling though. Been doing a lot of couch sailing. Bought a nice guide book at strictly sail chicago about sailing florida's sun coast. I have the whole month of may off and the wife and i will be meeting up with other compac owners for a week of sailing and a tour of the compac factory in clearwater. From there, we'll be trailering the 19 to key largo and sailing for a couple weeks. Oops, have to run, 4" of fresh snow to remove from the drive!
