Re: A new clip!
I think that there is good and less good in each methods. I am far from considering myself as a pro videographer. (Think about Dylan Winter for the quality and feel of his videos) But I try to show the feeling of what I see when sailing. It is like everything else; it can get a lot technical and cold at the same time. The camera should not be the star of the movie!...

The technical part is the hard part... I have tried to take pictures.. but it seems about the time I have turned on the camera it is time to trim the sail or change the tiller

I know what you mean! This is why most of my videos are about very calm sailing. It is difficult to film with camera in hand when there are gusts and you have to play with the sheets and tiller or when the boat is heeled a lot.
I found out it is easy to do with a fixed camera!...

Personally, I find great solace in your videos. For one thing they are about real sailing of the type we do. I don't think many of us on this forum have sailed round the world or through a hurricane or been boarded by pirates!! So, for just the shear joy of sailing your videos are tops.Michel wrote:I know what you mean! This is why most of my videos are about very calm sailing. So true, when I think about the memories of my sailing it is the things that went wrong or that the lakes got a little too wild.lustyslogger wrote:

But when I think about why I came back was to recapture those moments of serenity..
Actually it is one of the things I find frustrating with sailing books -- 80% of them are about the big storm. I want to read about the other adventures... sailing half a mile down to a tavern so you can enter from the dock side... or just putting together 12 perfect tacks
this is a great cruise

Re: A new clip!
I was in the Navy, serving on destroyers. I "sailed" from Yokosuka Japan to Naha Okinawa to Subic Bay Philippines, to Hong Kong BCC, to the coast of Vietnam to New Castle NSW Australia, to Christchurch NZ to Port Moseby New Guinea to Pago Pago Samoa to Pearl Harbor Hawaii and finally to Long Beach California. Some of the trip was wet and wild and some was exceptionally boring but the best times were those when the sea creatures were about us, the sun was slowly sinking into the ocean, the stars were billions and billions strong and the winds were fair.
I joined the Navy because I wanted to see the ocean and I will never forget that experience.
Now my good sails are getting from the marina to Barbies Toes and back without capsizing.
