I'm so envious. One of these years I'm going to be on that map!

I feel sorry for you guys up North. Down in the southern hemisphere we're still in mid summer and have max temperatures in the mid 30s (centigrade). Every afternoon a sea breeze kicks in and pumps 25 knots from the South West.

But whilst you are looking forward to your spring and summer, we're facing our Autumn and Winter. And in Winter our maximum temperatures get all the way down to the low teens (Centigrade).

Now now, this is a family friendly site. Use of the four letter word S@ow is forbidden!!

There is a Puddle Duck Racer for sale on Craigslist for $40.00 (not a mistake). I told Josh yesterday I was going to get it and challenge him in the Texas 200.

I lied.

It is 38* F and breezy here in the Florida panhandle, with a high in the 50's. Tomorrow's forecast for the Tampa area calls for highs in the 70's and a 12 mph wind from the northwest. I'm hoping to head that way in a couple of hours. It's about a 6 1/2 hour drive along the coast, past St. Joe, Apalachicola, Carrabelle, and so on before going inland a bit.

The boats on the beach are an eye-feast, and the activity just before dawn is a small boat spectacle. The start, announced by blasts from a conch shell as the sun wakes, is amazing. Kayaks, paddle boards, multi and monos spreading and spacing, running aground, having rigging problems, coming back for something they forgot...some going all out, like it was a single lap sprint, others more relaxed, while some still fuss and putz on the beach.

Get there if you can. It's worth the trip.

Well, the snow has melted and the temps are rising. I went out to the boat yesterday with the intention of cleaning it up and getting it ready for revarnishing etc. The ice was melted off the deck, the temperature was 65, the winds were out of the Northeast at 4 kts. So, I did what any responsible skipper would do, I went sailing!!! Normally, I launch the boat on April 15th but don't actually sail until Mid May or later. This year I left the boat in the water over the winter and therefore was able to get on the water over two months sooner!!

That is a shame what happened, but I am glad everyone made it out of the water alive and well. Hopefully the EC will go on next year
