I really dislike outboard motors! I sail on the Saint-Lawrence and there is that current. So I found some oars! I mean oooooaaaars! They fit on my 16' dinghy and I have the feeling they will fit the bill as well!
Ha ha!... And I bet that if I turn them on the side, they will provide enough lift to be airborn!
But, it is not easy to find oars that are worth something. I tried 7' 6" oars and I had to row like Ben Hur in the roman galley to make ½ knot against the one knot current that is average where I sail. Next I managed to make them longer up to about 9 foot but it still was not as good as I wanted. So I hope that these ones will make the boat fast enough without having me row like a slave. 1½ to 2 knots will be ok for me. Most of the times, I will only use them to get to the ramp after the sailing or if the wind is gone.

Or a Roman galley! I plan on having my wife to sit in the back and bang on a drum to set the rowing speed! "Ramming speed!" https://youtu.be/AjmbgZ2wZvk
