Welcome to the 2014 WrinkleBoat Intergalactic Championship Regatta & Ran-Tan / Potter Invitational - let's just call it - WICR/Potter Invitational. January 17 - 19, 2014 at Lake Pleasant AZ (32 miles N. of Phoenix,AZ)
For 2014 we would like to Invite our good friends the Potter Sailing community - be they SoCal Potter Yachters, NorCal Potter Yachters or 'Lone Wolf' sailors!
The WrinkleBoat fleets have been lucky to have been included in events sponsored by the Potter community - It is our turn to reciprocate!
For 2014 we hereby extend a warm and heartfelt invitation to the Potter sailing groups to come share a sailing experience in the desert at the WICR/Potter Invitational!
We look forward to your participation and company whilst sailing!
The event is detailed here at the web pages -
www.wrinkleboat.webs.com
The weekend is sailed as a part of the Arizona Yacht Club Birthday Regatta and Leukemia Cup Regatta. all of the events are wrapped into one ball of sail racing- party- fun in the desert in January. Great facilities - a unique venue,-great group of SMALL boat sailors- friendly and/ or spirited competition with the emphasis on education (new this year).
Why one would want to sail or race in Phoenix,AZ in January? - I can say that some of the same reasons drive me to go to the Cruiser Challenge - good people - good boats - good venue - good race management - fun - -fun - fun!
For 2013 we had 12 boats of all skill levels racing - We are here to help people race and to get the most from sailing their boat in basic skills - ie. sail trim, boat handling to help maximize your FUN !
Racing will be scored using Portsmouth ratings so everyone has a chance and you won't get beat by the 'bigger/faster/newer' boat! This is a friendly competition -folks - please No Wagering! ;>)
Feel free to contact Gary Oberbeck at gilasailr@aol.com if you have questions - camping/lodging/slips - past event participants etc..
We look forward to seeing as many of you as we did in 2013 and our friends that sail Potters!
