I keep my boat in the water for several reasons, not the least is the convenience of being able to walk out on the dock, and with minimal preparation have the boat underway. One of the last issues I have is having to rig the jib since I do remove that and store it under the cuddy, out of the weather. I recently became away of a "jib bag" that allows you to keep the jib hanked on and ready to go. When I went online to research price etc I found they were almost as expensive as a main sail cover. Any ideas of where I may find one reasonably priced (all the ones I saw were between $70.00 and $120.00 for my sized boat).

I can see how a jib bag like this could save us some time in preparation but I also see a small problem with that! I have three jibs on my boat! I select one depending on the wind. I don't think it would be time economical having to undo a jib to install a more proper one.

But if a boat has only one, it is a nice solution.

That price doesn't seem hideous. The sunbrella alone could cost that much retail. If you have sewing skills you could go to a "decorator" fabrics store and look at their sale rack, you might save some pennies, especially if you're game to have a "last years floral print" Jib Bag.

Actually, I have returned to my old friend and an advertiser in Small Craft Advisor, JO Woodworks (check him out sometimes, he does excellent work). He is going to make me a jib bag for the least expensive price I was able to find anyone selling them for. I would rather do business with him than someone I don't know who won't even show their address.

He made me a tiller cover (he also made the tiller come to think of it) and it was quite nicely done.

Well, I got my jib bag from John and it works as I expected. its well constructed and saves me time in rigging. I know Michel you said you had three jibs and that could be a detriment but for people like me with only one jib its a very well received addition.

The only thing important about anything is: Are you happy with it?... Does it fits your needs?...
