Just became the owner of a Guppy 13 . She's a little bleary, worse for wear and tear, but there she is. Couple of things I need info for:
1. It appears to me that it takes 2 to rig the mast at the ramp. Is there some EASY way I can do it myself ??
2. In the inside, there is a floor over the bottom of the hull, open at each end. So far, I have pulled out a sponge, an anchor with chain, a wad of what I thought was steel wool, but turned out to be a wad of metal chips the size of a softball, like from a lathe, or drill press. There may be other stuff down there including dead animals. Is there a way without using a saber saw or sawzall to clean this area out ??

Post pictures. I have a pic of one of these as a screen saver on my computer. They are cute little boats.

However, in answer to your question, I personally don't have a clue!

two people to raise the mast?? what system was described to you on how to raise the mast?

I should not be very hard to raise the mast of a Guppy singlehanded. A very simple system is to use a line attached to the stay going to a block up front and going to a cleat in the companion way area. Just raise the mast by hand and cleat it secured. Then you can take your time to go front to attach the front stay.
Dont forget to make sure that the shrouds are atached and the turnbuckles are clear beforehand. You dont want to bend or break one of these things. It is a good idea to tape the turnbuckles in the up position before rising the mast.

This is what I do with my Sandpiper 565 (18½ foot) with a much bigger mast (I think !...)

The Guppy is a nice little boat and I wish you a lot of fun and good times with her.
