Island Names

Many of us sail on waters dotted with islands that are unnamed. My home waters is the Cherokee Lake in East Tennessee between Jefferson City and Bean Station. Since the lake is a TVA construct its water levels vacillate heavily between winter and summer because of opening and closing the dam at Jefferson City. As a result there are number of islands created in the summer months when the lake levels are the highest. Almost none of these lakes are named on the official maps (lakes have maps, tidal waters have charts). So, in an attempt to create consistency in my logs I have begun naming the islands I come into contact with. Of course, me being me, I can't just name them any old name. I also need to be able to brag about the fact that I sailed to Barbie's Toes today (say it just right and its sounds remarkably like Barbados)

A few of the islands I have named are
Barbie's Toes
A Back Hoe
Trina's Dad
Hi Why Ya
Bahia Ma
Tee Hee Hee (a very funny island)

Has anyone else created interesting island or place names in your travels?

BTW, there is one named island. Rumor has it that the local migrant worker population boats out to it and barbecues goats. Ergo, it has been named Goat Island although the name does not appear on the map of the lake.

I love this! The first time I read that you had sailed to Barbies Toes I laughed out loud! So punny it's almost painful.

I give you Fry Tortillas to bestow upon a worthy Island.

I have a friend who used to take me sailing to the Dry Tortugas.. we never actually got there(it was only an afternoon sail after all), but that was the course we set...

Lusty L, maybe you can help me.

I have a 12 foot Paceship Oakisland. it came with the name "Synergetic"

an okay name, but I think I need one more personal...one with humor.

I am having a hard time coming up with a name. I had an LS13 that I called "A Tangent" so I could 'go off on....'

I don't want to be toooo punny ('Tacky' though this isn't too bad, and it only means applying five letters) or 'Wind up' six letters
