I mourn for you Michel. I remember the article you had printed in SCA about the boat and how much you loved her. We will miss your youtube videos about you and the old girl. I am sure you will find another boat that is suitable but you will never find another Mari-Bell.

But just remember

It is not the ship so much as the skillful sailing that assures the prosperous voyage.

Thanks Norman. You are right. I will get myself a new boat, more suited to the kind of sailing I want to do. But it is true that I really loved that little boat! It felt kind of sad to watch her go.

I am almost surprised something that small was not easily trailerable. So what do we get for you.. Rhodes Robin?

It is not that it is too hard but it is not really the boat that you would like to rig before and derig after all the times! You do it a few times and you find yourself looking for a dock somewhere. This is what I did.
It cannot by trailered with a normal car also. A 6 cylinders minivan is the minimum for the job and you feel the weight every times you have to accelerate and brake.

I am looking now for a 16 foot sailing dinghy like the Wayfarer or CL 16. They are light and very easy to rig and they are very seaworthy.

A Sunbird 16 is nice. Weighs about 500 lbs, lots of room in the cockpit, very stable and very "boaty" looking with its little cuddy.

There is an active on line forum for them as well. Ones in good shape can go as little as $800.00 although the usual asking price is closer to twice that.

Mine was the one from White Pine, I ended up paying $750.00 for it

Hey, we almost forgot one sponsored by SCA

The Scamp!!

Don't know your finances or wood working ability but this really looks like a nice little boat

Unfortunately my finances are I lack $27.00 having 14 cents! And my woodworking abilities are on par with my ability to sing Opera!! or I would have one.
