It is a first for me! The boat is anchored near the municipal ramp, just a few minutes from my home. The man who was leasing me a dock died last year and the marina close by is charging an indecent amount of money for a slip.

What do you use to get out to the boat?

I am extremely lucky in where I found a slip for the Lusty Slogger. I'll post photo's next time but its in a camp ground with a small marina. Its well protected from the weather. Its only $5.50 per foot, no minimum. I do have a short canal I need to navigate to get to the main body of the lake.

Slips, in many places are becoming hideously expensive and is driving more people to trailer power boats who might have otherwise wanted a sail boat. When I was looking for a slip in Florida I looked into Saint Augustine. (We had thought about moving there first). The cheapest I found was an outrageous $350.00 per month minimum.

One good thing about being on a mooring Michel, its a deterrent to the evil minded dock walkers who might come aboard at night. At the marina I was in in Tennessee there were several incidents of fishing equipment stolen from the pontoon boats docked there.

I would be content to just go sit on the boat and have a pleasant dinner it looks so peaceful!!

Here is the website for the marina I am in. I am the only sailboat there.

I use this inflatable kayak. :) (The trick is to get on or off the boat without taking a swim! ;) )

I also anchor with two different anchors. I don't care about installing a permanent mooring this way and it has proven to be very reliable so far.
