Beasts in the Strait of Juan de Fuca

The Northwest Maritime Center announced that Race to Alaska will begin 8 June 2017 in Port Townsend, WA.

This announcement modivated me to publish a video i took of my Strait of Juan de Fuca crossing with the 2015 fleet -

Cool. All I get to see on Cherokee Lake are some rather large carp!!!!

We have big carps too!... The whales are at about 400 miles down the St-Lawrence from where I sail!
We have many species, including blue whales and sperm whales. :-)

I have never seen a whale at sea. I was on a ship for two years and sailed from Long Beach CA to Christchurch NZ and certainly saw a plethora of sea life, about 2 zillion flying fish, porpoises (don't tell me these creatures are not intelligent), giant turtles, albatross, giant rays, sea snakes, more types of jellyfish then I could list, 15 foot or better sharks but never a whale.
