Is no one sailing????

Either everyone is sailing or no one is sailing since there has been no traffic on this forum for over two weeks now. I will say I am not sailing and have not sailed since Memorial Day. The weather has been boiling hot (101 today with a whopping 3 kt wind) On those days when the temps have been in the low 90's that was only because it was raining with 20 to 30 kt winds. I do keep a log of all my sails and in looking back over the years I have noticed that while weather conditions are not the best for sailing up here this time of year I have always managed to get out 5 or 6 times in June and July. The sailing season here is from mid April to the first week of November so I still have time to get some decent sailing in. However, when we don't even get the benefit of Michels video's its very easy to become depressed with thoughts of buying a pontoon boat or worse.

I really needed this! I have been bitching to everyone about not sailing. By the way, how did your overnighter go?

Hey! it was fine but the boat spiders really got me!... :o I was able to sail a lot, even on the way back, against the current. It was a nice little trip. :)

Lusty,

I'm sorry to hear of your miserable weather.

Zephyr had a spring re-fit that lasted into July but she finally splashed.

1st sail: a ripper on the Columbia with first one reef then two. Screaming along instantly used to her new, comfy footwell. The wind was almost 90 degrees from the river path so only a couple tacks while out for over 2 hours.
2nd sail: a Wednesday evening after work with a friend and a new friend who is interested in SCAMPs. We circumnavigated Ross Island in the Willamette, beating upwind rounding the end and then a idyllic sleigh ride down the far channel.
3rd sail: out for an overnight with Dale Simonson and his Luna on the Columbia near St. Helens OR. A sublime, relaxing time.
4th: a Sunday sail of the above loop with my wife. Another beaut.

I'll be bringing Zephyr to work again tomorrow for an after-work sail. Ramp is free at 5pm and mid-week spares me from the hoards of power craft more interested in loud music and minimal clothing.

Hey Dave, good to hear from you again. Was thinking about you the other day when I finally got around to cleaning out my wallet and found your card from the Annapolis Boat Show 2 years ago!! The bad thing about the boat show is that its the same date as my anniversary so its hard to go look at boats and convince my wife I'm doing that for her!!
