The EC, a 300 mile or so event, is into its second day. The start was yesterday morning at Fort Desoto, on Tampa Bay. As of about an hour ago, 76 entrants had passed through the first checkpoint, and 15 had yet to check in. The first leg is 62 nm, with the second 72 on down the gulf coast.
A few boats are out due to capsize and equipment failure, including Randy Smythe, who was well ahead when he was reported to have flipped.
There are SCAers in the mix, too- Bill and Luke, Chuck from Duckworks, and Tom Pamperin, and all have cleared checkpoint 1, with Bill and Luke, aboard their SeaPearl, ahead of the other SCAers.
The EC ends in Key Largo, and just finishing is an accomplishment. Here's to the crews and boats!

I was hoping to see a SCAMP in the EC but not this year.
The conditions this year are a lot better than last year.
