SCAMP Camp #3

Post by simeoniii »

The beat goes on! Day-1

Camp #3 kicked off today and good progress was made on six new builds.

Over the weekend, staff (Scott, Matthew, and crew) had pre-scarfed the hull bottoms and bulkhead-7, and assembled and leveled the jigs

Today, Day-1, the group got a good start and accomplished:

- Centerboard trunk sides glassed and fill coated
- Hull bottoms aligned and screwed down to jigs
- Mast box assembled and glued up (3 sides and mast step, plus mast ramp bottom piece

- photos to be continued -

Day 2:

- The Mast Boxes were filleted by the class after a fine filleting demo by Fred, from the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding.

- The Centerboard Trunk fiberglassed surfaces done yesterday were sanded and given a graphite/epoxy coat in prep for the trunk assembly process on Day 3

- The centerboard trunk log posts were milled up, along with a "starter" amount of cleat stock

- Cleats were cut & dry-fit to support the Bow and Stern transoms

I can't begin to describe how envious I am of those guys. It looks like so much fun doing it as a group, and the rate of progress is simply stunning.
