SCAMP Plans

Post by Editors »

SCAMP plans are now 8 full sheets of Arch D size 24" x 36". Cost is $149 plus shipping. —Eds

Below is the link to the store for online SCAMP plan orders.—Eds

NOTE ON THE NOTE: Plans have now been revised with many more details added—including an 8th sheet with rigging details. We now consider the plans complete, although we expect there will some minor revisions/additions (which we will make available via website or through PDF notes) in the future. A detailed building manual is also complete and available.

This is a quick review of Scamp's plans. Mike really likes them, says they are clear and easy to follow. The parts have come together rapidly.

Hi All,

We were ready to mail the early sets and follow with any updates or revisions, but it happens that several fairly important details were going to be added as revisions this weekend, so we held plan orders for printing Monday. This means everything should ship Tuesday morning. We apologize for the delay but figure it was smarter to start with this revised set. —Eds

Nice to see, there are a lot of guys out there raring to get started and I note that small boat websites in may different countries are sitting up and taking notice. Hopefully there will be lots of build blogs so we can follow their progress.

Thanks, John! This has been a lot of fun already, and following the builds (and adventures) will make it even better. And you get to have this kind of fun multiplied by how many designs? ;-)

Hello;
I've seen "SCAMP" referred to as "Small Craft Advisor MAGAZINE Project" and Small Craft Advisor MICROCRUISER Project". Which is it?

Update on Plans

Post by Editors »

Ahoy SCAMPers!

Just a quick update. We've recently added plan details on building the mast box, and we're working on skeg detailing, aluminum spar options and specs, centerboard block and tackle details, and additional rigging details.

There has been one other small revision, a very minor widening of the trunk that affects measurements on a few sheets. However all the builder really needs to know is that he should build the board first and size the trunk accordingly, or make sure the centerboard is built to fit trunk. There is too much variation in thickness, due to how each builder fairs, glasses and paints the centerboard and trunk to rely solely on the stated dimensions.

When we have these new details finished we'll send a final set of replacement plans pages to each of you who've purchased plans already.

Thanks for your support.

Best,
SCA Crew

Will there be details or sketches on how the water ballast works and is rigged ?

Cheers
