Dry Feet Beaching

Post by codefoster »

I like sleeping at anchor, but when I want to beach my SCAMP just to go ashore for a while it can be a challenge to go forward, jump off, and then get the rest of the crew (my kids) off the boat - also with dry feet.
Does anyone have any tricks for this?

Note: I do know about the Anchor Buddy for pulling the boat back offshore, but I'm looking more for advice on getting out of and back into the boat when it is on the beach.

Thanks!

Sea boats? When beaching what I use on my dinghy. Still have issue of wet and dirt being brought aboard ... but my feet a dry!

I've seen folks use hip waders for keeping dry when launching a trailerable boat. Issue on a SCAMP is where to store them, especially when wet.

Short pants and good sandals (kind that strap to your feet). After aboard dry off with a towel. Short pants and sandals is how I launch a trailerable boat.

Yeah, waders are antithetical to small boat cruising :) I'm with you on good sandals and rolled up pants.
I suppose if there's no room for waders, there's no room for a retractable gangplank! :)

Hip waders. I suggest Frog Togg brand. Quick to slip on. I store then rolled up in a dry bag in a very small space.
