So we need to get in to the rest of the spars now. Here we start on the yard and the boom. Yard not so hard, but the boom sorely tests my patience!

I've been watching your videos and have really enjoyed them. Your solutions and "good enough" will keep you sane. The point of sailing is to relax and enjoy not fuss over every little thing. Can't wait to see it in the water!
Hey thanks. I'm glad you've found them useful. Yeah I'd drive myself crazy if I tried to get every little thing perfect. Getting really close now!

Time to finish off the rest of the spars. This time we glue the yard staves together, and bring it to its final shape. The shame boom gets a little more augmentation before I can be fully absolved of my sins.

I really enjoy your videos, thanks for the extra work involved in documenting the process. I am just happy when I get a chance to work on my boat, let alone have the extra time to record and edit the process.

Seeing your process with the spars makes me glad I spent the extra coin to purchase the spruce for the spars & mast, when I bought the plywood to build the boat. The other reason being, if I didn't spend the money while it was available, I figured my wife would have spent it on something else.

Hey Greg,

Thanks for the support, it means a lot. It is a much more involved process doing all this filming than I ever imagined when I started. I reckon I spend as much time editing as I do actual building . Hearing comments like yours helps me realise it's not a waste of time.

Yep I wish I had of had similar foresight to get some good wood for the spars when I had the chance. Ironically we're slowly opening back up here so if I only had've waited a couple of months I could have had a much easier time of things. Oh well. I imagine I will make a new mast at some point anyway when the rest of the trauma has worn off

Various forces conspire to convince me that the mast might not be quite all that in the strength department. I endeavour to put some reinforcement in to make sure she's all right.

Another mast video I'm afraid, but it's almost done! Making and gluing the mast blocks, and finally a mast test fit :-)

A few bits and pieces this time. We add some supports to the seat longitudinals so we can later mount a rowing thwart. We also add backing plates to the hatches and fit and glue them. Also do a bit more work on the centreboard cap.

I get an exciting package full of all sorts of hardware goodies. We also dry fit the centreboard and figure out all its various hardware for the uphaul.

Bit of a mixed bag this time. We start with making some hatch dogs, then satisfy the superstitious sailor in me by making sure there's a coin under the mast. Finally we do some more work on the rub rails, and fit some hardware to the cabin top.
