This, to me is the biggest issue. When you splice the sheet to a long enough length to get the plank out in one piece there are no alignment issues. You simply plot out the plank on the extra long sheet and cut it out.
If you are bevel splicing there is also a helpful hint that no, you do not want to just add a half a sheet to a standard length to get a sheet long enough to cut out the planks. It's much better to cut the additional length at 3' 6" for the spliced length of 11' 4" for the two shortest planks and one medium. Then you will have a 4' 6" piece to add to a standard length which will yield a 12' 4" spliced sheet for cutting out the two longest planks and the other medium length plank.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

If I may add my humble two cents here, the way I resolved this nesting alignment issues was by the following method, which I posted on another thread:
And I also lofted and scarfed the garboards. I made it easy on myself by lofting and cutting the mould on paper, then cutting the longer piece exactly to size. The shorter piece I cut oversize by about an inch (adding the scarf length) and then cut the scarf by hand and glued it. Took the mould, laid it on the strake, and only the drew the shorter piece and cut it. The picture makes it clearer:

I did both scarf and Payson joints. I found the scarf to be faster. They are both good joints as far as strength. If you have indecision on which to do I suggest taking some scrap wood and doing both. I found the Payson joint did not bend as well as the scarf joint of course that could just be me.
I am a plan builder and used patterns before cutting the better plywood. Using jig saw well was a bit of a learning curve so cutting the patterns first helped. Now it is just like playing with a Stradivarius violin.

If anyone is interested I have created an electronic version of the Nesting diagram.
Some people suggest building a model to familiarize themselves with the construction process. I took the route of redrawing the plans using Draftsight, a 2D free CAD tool. One of the reasons for doing this is yields a 3D rotatable model. Once I had the Model I used the frame drawings to create a Nesting diagram for the 9mm ply. I used the footwell from the 1.7 version of the plans so the only scarf joint is the bottom panel.
The diagram uses 9 sheets of 48" x 96". I came to find out the plywood is actually 1225 X 2500 or approximately 48.25" x 98.5". I believe that if I had taken the true sheet size and spent the time to be more efficient in the layout I could have made the parts fit into 8 sheets. But I tried not to rotate the parts so that I would not have any more strange angles than necessary. I also did not include any of the smaller parts that are shown in the manuals nesting diagrams. Items such as the rudder head, mast box, transom cap, cabin side doublers or other doublers. Frankly because the dimensions for a good many of those parts are not included in the plans.
I intend to use the Pattern method for planking. But I did figure out how to make the Centerboard from one 4x8 sheet of 6mm ply.
