Watching the Race

What a beautiful day for the start! The winds are light, but adequate for sailing craft that move well with little wind. The tidal current is against them for the first few hours out of Victoria. Route strategy will be significant for the first few hours. Winds in the Strait of Georgia are already in the 15 to 20 knot range mostly from the NW, with little waves as yet. The big, fast multis should do well once they get up here.
There is nothing at all surprising about these conditions.
Bon Voyage!
